SILENT AUCTION AT CROCKETT REUNION WAS A BIG SUCCESS

We received a phone call from D.A. Miller, Entertainment Committee Chairman for the Houston Police Retired Officers Association. He related that the Crockett Reunion had 167 attendees there on Saturday, June 27, 2009 and that the silent auction brought in $1250.00 that would be donated to the Family Assistance Committee.[More]

 WELDON MARKERT:  (5-20-09 - Nelson) We visited with Weldon's wife this afternoon and she reports that Weldon had traveled to North Cypress hospital on Hwy 290 at Huffmeister for his daily radiation treatment.  She indicated that they have him scheduled for radiation 5 days a week for 7 weeks but that he is tolerating it fairly well.  She said that they appreciate the calls that he gets and welcome them.  His home # is 979-249-3381.[More]

2009 Elections

 

At the June 11th Business Meeting, Chairman of the nominating committee, W.G. Eickenhorst, presented a list of candidates seeking to be elected to positions as incoming officers of the association.   A call for nominations for these positions, three times for each position, then,   with no nominations from the floor forth-coming, the nominations were closed.  A copy of the ballot will be mailed to each member of the association, along with return, and signature required envelope.  Only those ballots, properly completed and received in the signed, pre-addressed envelope by July (Pending) 2009 will be counted.  Improperly marked ballots will be considered null and void.

  1. Those officers who remain on active duty into the year they turn age 50 will have penalty free access to their DROP/PROP balance once they are retired.  Many people believe they can retire at 48 (or some other age prior to 50) and just wait until they are 50 in order for the 10% penalty tax to no longer apply.[More]
