Billy B. Black A member of the HPROA, who retired from the Department on March 2, after serving over thirty-seven (37) years, passed away on Friday, September 11, 2009. At the time of his retirement, he was assigned to the Burglary & Theft Division. Sergeant Black entered the Houston Police Academy Class No. 19, on September 8, 1958. He is survived by his sister, Wanda Black Pool of Abilene, Texas. He is also the Uncle of Retired Sergeant Katherine A. McDonald, Retired Senior Police Officer Arnold R. Black, Senior Police Officer David A. Jones assigned the North Division and Police Officer Grey M. Black assigned to the North Division.
The body is entrusted with Brookside Funeral Home, 13401 Eastex Freeway (Lauder Road Exit), Houston, Texas, public service number 281-449-6511. Visitation for family and friends will be held at Brookside Funeral Home beginning on Tuesday, September 15, 2009, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at Brookside Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, September 15, 2009, at 12:30 p.m.
Burial will be held at Brookside Memorial Cemetery, 13401 Eastex Freeway (Lauder Road Exit), Houston, Texas.
