BUFORD WYATTE RUSHING, a member of the Houston Police Retired Officers Association, was born February 15, 1934 in Angelina County, TX. and passed away November 1, 2009, in Houston, TX. He served in the Army after WWII. After moving to Houston, he joined the Houston Police Department Academy Class Number 20 on December 29, 1958 where he served 25 years, 21 of which as a motorcycle officer, he also served in the Jail Division, Northeast Division. Buford finished his law enforcement career serving 18 years as a constable for Harris County Precinct 5, retiring as a sergeant. He is preceded in death by his parents John and Bessie Rushing. He is survived by his wife Sarah Elizabeth Lonon Rushing, his children, Howard L. Rushing, Iska G. Wire and Karen Rushing Altman, grandchildren Lonon E. Rushing, Elsie H. Wire, Wyatt H. Wire and Geoffrey A. Bivins.
